Te Araroa - The Long Pathway

Te Araroa is a 3000km continuous trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff. If you walk it is one go, walking every step, it takes about 5 months. I have planned for 6 months so there isn't any pressure to rush.

The trail opened in 2011, and is the brain child of Geoff Chapple who was intrumental in setting up the Te Araroa Trust and making the trail a reality. The trail covers beach, bush, road, rivers, lakes, estuaries, sea, farmland, towns, cities, and mountains. It is maintained and run primarily by volunteers on a shoestring, and a I imagine a fair amount of number 8 wire mentality.

The TA website gives an excellent detailed history of the trail.
