I am raising funds for the The Brook Waimarama Sanctuary. It is a fully fenced, 715 hectre, preditor free sanctuary a short distance from Nelson city. I volunteer there most weekends, primarily checking monitoring tunnels and traps.

It is an absolutely amazing place. I love the trees, ferns and birds, the streams and waterfalls, the insects and fungus. There is a range of tracks from wheelchair accessable to steep and difficult ridges. If you haven't been there yet, please go and have a look.

Very soon South Island Kiwi (Rowi) are being introduced into the Sanctuary. It gives me such an incredible feeling to think that we will be able to hear a Kiwi call so close to the Nelson CBD.

Despite the thousands upon thousands of volunteer hours given to make the sanctuary happen, there are significant operation costs to cover. It seemed appropriate that while I walk the length of New Zealand, experiencing our this amazing country, that I raise funds for a cause I am passionate about.

If you would like to make a donation I have set up a Give-a-Little page. Thank you to everyone who has already kindly made a donation.
